Wilco Burghout is an Associate Professor in Transport Planning at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and has been Director of the Centre for Traffic Research (CTR) since 2012. He received his PhD from KTH in 2005 and conducts research on the modelling, analysis and optimisation of transport systems, with a particular focus on public transport, automated and autonomous transport systems, traffic management and the analysis of large-scale traffic data.

He has extensive experience in the development and application of traffic and public transport simulation models and has led and contributed to a large number of research projects in collaboration with public authorities, regional authorities and industry. His research on automated transport systems covers both vehicle and traffic system impacts, as well as the integration of new mobility services into the existing transport system.
