K2 Knowledge Lunch: Do Operational KPIs Reflect Passenger-Oriented Service Reliability?
During this Knowledge lunch, Zhenliang Ma, Associate Professor and Senior lecturer in Transportation Science at KTH, will present findings from the K2-funded project Rethinking Public Transport Contracts, focusing on whether the operational key performance indicators (KPIs) used in public transport contracts reflect the reliability experienced by passengers. Public transport contracts strongly influence operator behaviour, but the indicators used for monitoring and incentives do not always capture what matters most to passengers.
Using bus operational and passenger demand data from Greater Stockholm, the study examines how different measures of punctuality and regularity relate to passenger-oriented service reliability. The presentation will discuss the strengths and limitations of different reliability measures, and what the findings may imply for the design of public transport contracts.
The Knowledge Lunch will be held in English.
Wednesday 7 oktober, 12:15-12:55.
