Development of a method for social impact assessments for Swedish transport planning: a transdisciplinary approach

Development of a method for social impact assessments for Swedish transport planning: a transdisciplinary approach

Routines and tools for social impact assessments in transport planning have been developed in many European and international contexts. In Sweden, however, the development work on social impact assesments for transport planning has just begun and efforts are spreading. For example, there are shortcomings in Swedish manuals for implementing environmental impact assessments and the result may be neglecting the social dimension.

The aim of this research project is to contribute to knowledge development on these issues. Through collaboration between researchers and public transport actors, co-produced knowledge and lasting effects will be achieved. This could, for example, be about developing social impact assesments processes and products, skills and skills in social impact assesments, as well as decisions and actions for implementing social sustainability.
